What is diabetes ?:

La diabetis mellitus és una síndrome de metabolisme alterat, on el  nivell de glucosa a la sang_cc781905-5cde- 3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_ (blood glucose) abnormally high (hyperglycemia).
The level of glucose in the blood is controlled by a complex interaction of numerous substances and hormones in the body, including the hormone insulin, made in the beta cells of the pancreas.

Type of diabetes:

1. The diabetes mellitus type 1  (DM1) occurs due to reduced insulin production.

2. Diabetes mellitus type 2  (DM2)  i la_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf5c-315b-135b-135 bb3b-136bad5cf58d_is due to a resistance to the action of insulin.

3. Genetic diabetes: due to a genetic defect in insulin secretion.

Other forms of diabetes mellitus are induced by high doses of glucocorticoids.

All  causes end up causing hyperglycemia, which is the main cause of the acute signs of diabetes: Excessive urine production, more thirst and increased fluid intake to compensate, blurred vision, weight loss for no apparent reason, lethargy and changes in energy metabolism.

Diabetes can cause many complications:

Acute complications include diabetic ketoacidosis and hyperosmolar coma.

Serious long-term complications include cardiovascular disease, chronic renal failure, and diabetic retinopathy.

Proper treatment of diabetes is as important as controlling blood pressure and a healthy lifestyle, without smoking and maintaining proper body weight.

In the year 1921 discovered the insulin_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf5is_distribution is the main type of diabetes. Type 2 diabetes can be controlled with other medications. Insulin and some oral medications can cause hypoglycemia, which can be dangerous if severe. Both types 1 and 2 are chronic diseases. To eliminate the disease, pancreatic transplantation with limited success in type 1 DM has been tested. Gestational diabetes usually disappears after delivery.

The World Diabetes Day the 14 is celebrated.
